QUESTION:-
Difference between primitive and non-primitive unit cell
ANSWER:-
In geometry, The Unit Cell is known as a parallelepiped, which provides six lattice parameters that are taken as the edges lengths of the cells and the angles between them. Unit cell are of two types: Primitive unit cell and Non-primitive unit cell.
Difference Between Primitive And Non Primitive Unit Cell
- In the Primitive Unit Cell, is a unit cell which contains one lattice point. Whereas, a Non-primitive Unit Cell is a unit cell which consists of particles that are present not only at the corner but also in the centres of the face and body of the unit cell.
- In a Primitive Unit Cell, the particles that are constituents are only present at the corners of a unit cell. Whereas, In the Non-primitive Unit Cell, the particles that are constituents are present at the corner and the centres of the face and body of the unit cell.
- In Primitive Unit Cell, all basic unit cells are linked with a single lattice point and are also called P-cells. Whereas, In the Non-primitive Unit Cell the unit cells are linked with more than one lattice point and are also called multi-unit cells.
- In the Primitive Unit Cell, the changes that are made to the copy are not evaluated in the original. Whereas, in the Non-primitive Unit Cell, the changes that are made to the copy as evidence of the original.
