PRINCELY STATES: )
1) Princely states were under the British paramountacy and the people had to pay taxes to the rulers which would give a decided share of that to the Crown.
2) There were 565 Princely states, Indore, Baroda, Dewas, Manipur, etc.

PROVINCES:)
1) The provinces were directly under the British Crown administration. So the people there paid taxes directly to the British Government.
2) There were 11 Provinces such as Bombay, Punjab, UP, Bihar, Madras, etc.
