difference between progressive and standing waves??

A standing wave does not appear to travel. A progressive wave has points of given phase, such as a crest or a dip which travel forwards, whilst the medium remains where it is. . (In atravelling wave, adjacent points all have the same amplitude, but the phase changes along the waveinstead).

this is difference btw progressive and standing waves
