Thank you for this important question.
Discipline is a set of rules followed by its employees that are made in order to improve the performance of the business firm. Each firm has punishments regarding the disobedience of the discipline.
Progressive Discipline is the form of discipline in which the intensity of punishment increases with every disobedience of the discipline. For example, the reporting time at work is 9am, however a worker is late, he/she is firstly given a verbal warning. If again repeated then another verbal warning is given. If it still continues, then the worker is given a written warning. In this the environment is kept positive which creates willingness to conform.
Negative discipline is a strict form of discipline created by a business firm. Under this, the workers are forced to abide by the rules and regulations set by the company. Any strict action can be taken after even a single mistake.
In both, currently the progressive discipline is experienced and enforced. It is appreciated as it creates a healthy working environment.
