Both organisms are composed of cells, the basic unit of life, with each cell surrounded by a cell membrane. The biggest difference between prokaryotes and eukaryotes is thateukaryotes have a nucleus. They also have other membrane structures called organelles.

Prokaryotes were old cells, they do not have well defined nucleus therefore called nucloid they also do not have membrane bound organelles.
Eukaryotes are new cells which have a well defined nucleus as well as membrane bound organelles.
