Answer:

TRANSCRIPTION

  • Formation of RNA from DNA is called transcription.
  • Enzyme - RNA polymerase - DNA dependent RNA polymerase.
  • In transcription only one strand of DNA participates and is called as template strand.

Dofference between prokaryotic and eukaryotic transcription

  • In prokaryotes transcription and translation are coupled process but in eukaryotes first transcription occurs after that translation occurs.
  • In prokaryotes single RNA polymerase forms all the three types of RNA but in eukaryotes three types of RNA polymerase is present

(i) RNA polymerase I

(ii)RNA polymerase II

(iii) RNA polymerase III
