Bacteria are single called organisms that does not have a nucleus and need only a nutrition source on a surface (organic matter/dirt) to allow it to colonize and live in groups either outside the body or in it. Our bodies are a huge microbiome of good bacteria and bad bacteria will try to upset the balance, and targeted antimicrobial therapy can eradicate before it colonizes inside of our body to cause disease.

Protozoan organisms are also single cell organisms that have a nucleus and are further developed than bacteria. They find homes in our bodies occasionally but are acquired by drinking unsanitary water, or through spread by a vector like a mosquito or tick. The protozoan will set up shop offer by attaching to hosts cells in humans, and caused disease by releasing bacteria or viruses they carry.
