RAM stands for ' Ramdom Access Memory '. It holds the data temporarily for current processing as long as the computer is in operation.

RAM is also referred as volatile memory i.e. it does not retain the data when the computer is switched off.

ROM stands for ' Read only memory '. it holds the instructions permanently which is normally executed by itself when the computer is switched ON.

It is referred an non- volatile memory ad it stores the data permanently.
