RAM is fast, ROM is not. ROM can be an SSD or an HDD. A DDR4 RAM has about 6 GB/s read and write speed. ROM like an HDD has only 100 MB/s read and write speed.

RAM holds the data of the program which is currently running. ROM holds everything, the OS, the programs, files, photos, music, everything.

RAM is wiped out if you turn off your system (volatile memory), ROM stays the same (non- volatile memory)

Increasing the speed of RAM increases the speed when you run the program. Increasing the ROM speed increases the overall speed of your PC.

Your PC can work without ROM, but not without RAM. You can plug a bootable USB, or atleast your BIOS can work, without ROM. But without RAM, your PC might not even start.
