1. Reflection of light rays occur between two optical medias but total internal reflection occurs on fulfillment of some conditions.
2. Reflection occurs when light travels from a lighter to a denser medium. Total Internal reflection occurs when light travels from a denser to a lighter medium.
3. Only a part of the total energy present in the light is reflected, that is, a part of it is scattered while the other part is refracted during reflection. In total internal reflection, all the light is reflected.
