A dam is any barrier that holds back water; dams are primarily used to save, manage, and/or prevent the flow of excess water into specific regions. Areservoir is a man-made lake that isprimarily used for storing water. They can also be defined as the specific bodies of water formed by the construction of a dam.
hope it helps ❤❤

Dam is a massive structure built across the flowing river to save water through spillways, used to convey water for irrigation, power generation with turbine arrangement and many other purposes.

Reservoir is a structure built to hold the water that flows directly into sea from the river, which also performs the irrigation purpose and other purposes as a dam.

But a reservoir are interlinked such that if one was built other should also be built simultaneously, with which the former gets benefited and purposed to be built.
