difference between respiration and breathing​

Respiration :

  • Chemical process

  • Takes place in the cell

  • The cells in the lungs ; take up oxygen , break it into ATP and then release energy .

  • Only cells work

  • Always involuntary

Breathing :

  • Physical process

  • No interference of cells

  • Just the act of taking oxygen in and breathing out carbon dioxide.

  • Lungs , trachea , nose ,etc . are also involved.

  • Controlled during day and involuntary during sleep.
