Difference between Respiration and Combustion are given below:

Respiration:

  • It is the process of oxidation of food materials like Amino acids, glucose, fatty acids to ‘carbon dioxide and water’.
  • In respiration process energy is released in several stages.
  • It does not require any ‘external heat’ on the process.

Combustion:

  • It is the process to form a carbon dioxide and water by burning sugar which helps in the ‘release of energy’ in the form of heat.
  • In combustion, energy is released only once.
  • It is only done by applying external heat to the sugar molecule to burn.
