Retrotransposons also move by a "copy and paste" mechanism but in contrast to the transposonsdescribed above, the copy is made of RNA, not DNA. The RNA copies are then transcribed back into DNA— using a reverse transcriptase — and these are inserted into new locations in the genome.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RETROTRANSPOSONS AND DNA TRANSPOSONS:
Transposons are small mobile DNA segments can change positions in the genome (in the same cell) and also able to replicate independently itself.
.=Transposons simply cut and paste its DNA segment during transposition whereas retrotransposons produce RNA intermediate
The enzyme requires for transposons is “transposase” whereas for retrotransposons is “reverse transcriptase”
