We know that the force of a moving charge in a magnetic field is given as
F = q│v ᵡ B│
Here F is the force, B is the magnetic field and v is the velocity of the charge. Now, we use the right hand screw rule to get the direction of F.
If v and B are in the plane of the paper , then according to right hand screw rule, the direction of F on positively charged particle will be perpendicular to the plane of the paper upward as shown in the figure below:
Similarly for negatively charged particle , the direction of f will be downwards.
Here we will take the curl of our fingers, in the direction from v to B, the direction of thumb gives the corresponding direction of F.
