Roughage :-

Roughage is simply referred to as dietary fiber. It is the indigestible portion of food obtained from plants. Roughage do not provide any nutrient to our body but play an important role of a healthy diet plan. Its main function is to add bulk to the diet, which in turn helps in the digestion process and healthy function of the bowel system. It prevents constipation and helps in getting rid of undigested food. Roughage also helps in retaining water in the body. Some roughage food include fruits like apple, pear etc. Whole grains and green leafy vegetables are also example of roughage.

Concentrate :-

Concentrate is simply a feed that is rich in carbohydrates but low in fiber. Its main purpose is to fatten up cattle before slaughtering. It is also used to provide the cattle with extra nutrients. It is easily digestible. The primary role of concentrate feeds is to provide concentrated sources of necessary nutrients for livestock production. These nutrients include macro nutrients of energy and protein and important specific nutrients like amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins, minerals and others.
