Unit weight of Water.

When the soil mass is submerged below the ground water table it is being acted upon by force of buoyancy in vertically upward direction. Magnitude of which equals the weight of water displaced by soil solid.

γsub = Weight of submerged soil (Ws)sub/ total volume of soil(VT)

Wsub = Saturated weight of soil (Wsat) – Buoyant force (VT.γW)

γsub = (Wsat - VT.γW)/ VT

γsub = (Wsat/ VT) - γW

We know, γsat = Wsat/ VT put in above equation

So, γsub = γsat - γW

•°• γsat - γsub = γW

So by interchanging the terms it will give you Unit weight of Water.
