 all carbons are linked with single bond 
 burn with blue flame 
eg anes 

unsaturated hydrocarbons 
 
carbons are linked with double or triple bond
burn with yellow flame with smoke

*Saturated compounds generally give a cleane film while unsaturated compounds with give a yellow frame with lot of black smoke.
