Scalar quantities have a size, but no direction. They are specified by a number (magnitude) and a unit. A few examples of scalar quantities are volume, pressure, distance and time.
Vector quantities have a size as well as a direction. They are specified by a number (magnitude), direction and a unit. Several examples of vector quantities are force, displacement, acceleration and velocity.
