a. The Scholars Revolt of 1868, was the early uprising and revolt by the Vietnamese against the  French control and spread of Christianity. The revolt was led by angry officials at the imperial court who were agitated by the spread of Catholicism and the rising French influence and power. 

 b. The officials organized an uprising in Ngu An and Ha Tien provinces and killed nearly a thousand catholics

c.. Even though, the French succeeded in crushing the movement, the revolt instilled a great deal of self confidence in the people. 

Hoa Hao movement:

a. Huynh Phu so was the founder of famous anti colonial religious movement Hoa Hao in 1939.

b. The movement gained popularity in Mekong delta ares and was an inspiration to people.

c. Huynh Phu So performed miracles and helped the poor.

d. Many of his ideas aimed at social reforms like opposition to  the sale of child brides, gambling and the use of alcohol and opium.

e. All these movements helped in strengthening anti imperialist struggle and inculcated a sense of unity among the people.
