Difference between seismograph and Richter scale.What are the reding of both..For what mainly are these used for?

A seismograph is any instrument that measures motions. of ground ,including those of seismic waves generated by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other seismic sources . While the Richer Scale is a Scale , ranging from 1 to 10,for indicating the intensity of n earthquake.Richer Scale is used to measure earthquake.
