Answer:

... In a separately excited DC motors, field winding is excited from a separate source, and the armature is excited from another supply. But in a DC shunt motor the armature and field windings connected in parallel across a supply

Explanation:

A series DC Motor has both field and armature windings connected in series. Both these windings carry same current.

A separately excited DC motor has field and armature windings connected to two different sources. So, field and armature windings remain seperated.

Speed in DC MOTOR is inversly proportional to field flux. As DC series motor has armature and field carrying same current, sudden unloading of DC Series motor causes zero armature and hence zero field current. As field current is zero, field flux becomes zero. As field flux is zero, the motor attains infinite dangerous speed.

In case of sudden unloading of seperately excited DC motor, armature current becomes zero but as field and armature are separated, no effect is found on field excitation and it remains constant producing same field flux. Thus, there is no as such speed change on unloading.
