HLO MATE HERE U GO ....

.SIGMA BOND

. Sigma bond is a covalent bond formed by the axial overlap of orbitals

. Sigma bond is a strong bond

. It allows free rotation of atoms

. sigma bond determines the shape of the molecules.

. It forms independently

. There can be only 1 sigma bond between 2 atoms

. PI BOND

. Pi bond is a covalent bond formed by the side wise overlapping of orbitals

. pi bond is a weak bond

. It restricts the free rotation of atoms

. The shape of the molecules is not influnced bt pi bonds

. pi bonds always follows sigma bonds

. There can be 1 or 2 pi bonds between two atoms

HOPE THIS WILL HELP U

Difference Between Sigma and Pi bond

➖ Sigma Bond

⏺️Pi Bond

➖During sigma bond formation overlapping orbitals can be either one hybrid and one pure orbital or two pure orbitals and two hybrid orbitals.

⏺️During pi bond formation overlapping orbitals are always two unhybridized orbitals.

__________________

➖Sigma bond exists independently and allows free rotation.

⏺️Pi-bond always exists along with sigma bond and the rotation is restricted.

____________________

➖Sigma bonds are stronger bonds.

⏺️Pi bonds are usually less powerful compared to sigma bonds.

___________________

➖Sigma bonds are formed first when atoms interact.

⏺️Pi bonds are formed after the formation of sigma bonds.

___________________

➖During the bonding between two atoms,Only one sigma bond is formed.

⏺️Here two pi bonds can exist between two atoms.

_____________________

➖Sigma bond has cylindrical charge symmetry around the bond axis.

⏺️No symmetry exists in pi bonds.

____________________

➖Atoms with sigma bonds can be highly reactive.

⏺️Atoms with pi bonds are less reactive in nature.
