Answer:-

Rate% = 5% p.a

time1= 3 years

time2=4 years

principal= x

S.I. = PRT/100

(100S.I/RT= P) optional

SI for 3 years = (p*3*5)/100

=15p/100

SI for 4 years= (p*4*5)/100

=20p/100

According to question

Si for 4 years - SI for 3 years= 42

-15p/100+20p/100= 42

(-15p+20p)/100= 42

5p= 4200

p = 850
