Sliding bearing is having journal and bearing having lubricant in between the journal and bearing and depending upon the amount of lubricant in between it is thick, thin and zero film bearing. They may or may not have direct contact...
Meanwhile roller bearings are like balls in between the journal and bearing which prevents contact and reduces frictions by having point contacts only.

A thrust bearing Carries a load predominately as a axial load through its bearing assembly and a Journal bearing consists of Journal or plain bearings on a shaft or journal which rotates freely in a supporting metal sleeve or shell. There are no rolling elements in style these bearings. Hence less friction and wear.
