Answer:

LARGE INTESTINE

5-6 feet long

and 6 cm wide tube folows the small

intestine. It is inverted U tube around

small intestine.

It absorbs water about 6 litres per dayas

well as dissolved salts from the residue

passed on from small intestine.

Bacteria present in large intestine breaks

undigested food to make several vitamins

specially Vitamin K needed for blood

clotting.

SMALL INTESTINE:

It is the longest part of alimentary canal

about 6 meter in length. The length varies in

various organisms. In herbivorous the small

intestine is little long and helps them to

digest CELLULOSE.

It is divided into three parts: (i) Duodenum

(ii) Jejunum (iii) Ileum.

Food enters duodenum where it gets mixed

with the BILE juices secreted by gall bladder.
