When a land is affected by any human activity it is called as land degradation.

The pollution caused by humans can degrade a land. Eg. Deforestation, industrialization, over gazing, wind erosion, etc.

When the top soil is affected or removed due to wind, water, etc. it is called as soil erosion. The top soil is considered to be fertile. Soil erosion happens as a result of land degradation.
