solenoid- A long cylindrical wire consisting of large no of turns of insulated wire and Electromagnet- it is generally prepared by placing soft iron core in solenoid

A solenoid is a cylindrical coil of wire whose diameter is small compared to its length. When an electric current flows through the wire the solenoidgenerates a magnetic field similar to that of a bar magnet. Anelectromagnet is a solenoid wound around a central iron core.
