solvent is the substance in which the other material is dissolved. It is more in quantity
solute is the substance which is dissolved in solvent . It is generally less in quantity

Solute :- The Substances which dissolve in solvent.

Solvent :- The liquid in which a solute is dissolved to form a solution.

Example: a solution of sugar and water, water is the solvent, while sugar solute. a solution of salt and water, water is the solvent, while the salt is the solute
