Difference between southern and northern hemispheres
Answers
Answer:
(1) Geographical difference.
The entire world is roughly 30% land and 70% oceans.
The proportions are quite different in the two hemispheres though. Southern: 40% land. Northern: 80% land.
(2) Seasonal difference.
As the earth revolves around the sun, it tilts towards it for half the year and away from it at for half the year. This causes the seasons to be reversed in the two hemispheres.
3. Human occupation.
About 90% of the people live north of the equator. As a result pollution of all kinds is considerably greater there.
4.Storm movement.
The rotation of the earth produces the *coriolis force* which acts upon anything moving across the earth’s surface. This includes weather systems, so that storms rotate clockwise in the southern hemisphere and counter-clockwise in the northern hemisphere. (The coriolis force results from the equator moving faster than locations closer to the poles. It is weakest close to the equator and strongest at higher latitudes.)
