speed = total distance between two places /total time taken to travel
its scalar quantity
for example the distance between your school and ur house / total time taken to reach ur school by roads from ur house(t) = speed

velocity = diplacement/time
its vector quantity
for example the straight line distance from ur house to school/t = velocity
