Answer:

THE BASIC DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SPEED AND VELOCITY IS:

1.SPEED HAS ONLY MAGNITUDE AND NO DIRECTION WHEREAS VELOCITY HAS BOTH MAGNITUDE AND DIRECTION.

2.SPEED IS ALWAYS POSITIVE(THAT IS NON - NEGATIVE AND NON-ZERO) WHEREAS VELOCITY IS EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE.

3.SPEED IS SCALAR QUANTITY AND VELOCITY IS VECTOR QUANTITY.

Speed :

(i) The rate of distance is called speed

(ii) Speed = Distance / time

(iii) It is scalar quantity

(iv) The SI unit of speed is m/s

(v) Speed can't be negative or zero

Velocity :

(i) The rate of displacement is called velocity

(ii) Velocity = displacement / time

(iii) It is vector quantity

(iv) The SI unit of velocity is m/s

(v) Velocity can be negative or positive or zero
