VELOCITY IS VECTOR quantity

                    DISplacement
 velocity=   --------------------
                      time

Velocity being a VECTOR has both MAGNITUDE as well as DIRECTION

 Speed is a scalar quantity i.e it ONLY has a magnitude

                 distance
 speed=  ----------------
                    time

Speed is the distance travelled by an object where as, velocity is distance traveled by an object per unit time in a particular direction

Speed :- Speed of a body is the distance travelled by it per unit time. It is a scalar quantity. Its S.I. unit is metre per second (m/s). Formula :- Distance / time taken

Velocity :- Velocity of a body is the displacement produced per unit time. It is a vector quantity. Its S.I. unit is metre per second (m/s). Formula :- Displacement / time taken
