Spores

➡️A spore is a minute, typically one-celled, reproductive unit capable of giving rise to a new individual without sexual fusion, characteristic of lower plants, fungi, and protozoans.

➡️Lower plants like fungi, algae, bryophytes , pteridophytes , etc and lower organisms like protists usually reproduce by spore formation. These spores are produced in a sac like structure in protists whereas in plants is produced within the sporangium present on the sporophyll.

➡️Spore production maintains continuity of species. It ensures greater survival as compared to sexual reproduction which is accomplished with the help of a number of agents which may be absent sometimes thus hindering reproduction.

SPORANGIOSPORES

➡️The process in which sporangiospores, a type of asexual spore found in fungi, are formed. Sporangiospores are formed within sac-like structure, the sporangium, following the division of the cytoplasm.

➡️Sporangiospores are produced inside specialized cells called sporangia and remain enclosed in the cells until maturity. Conidia may be produced inside a cell (although not always) but at maturity they will be exposed to the external environment.
