In Sri Lanka, the Sinhala leaders failed to recognize the cultural and lingual differences in the country. They adopted a majoritarian form of government which favored the Sinhalas over the Tamilians. This angered the Tamilians and they demanded rights. Both the groups had a feud which resulted in a civil war and loss of many lives in Sri Lanka.

In Belgium, the leaders acknowledged the differences in the country and gave the French and the Dutch equal opportunities in the government. They amended the constitution four times between 1970 and 1993 for the well being and unity of the country.
