There are three types of Muscle:-
1). Striated Muscle
2). Unstriated muscle
3). Cardiac Muscle
On the basis of Structure :-
Striated Muscle :-
1). Cells are long and Cylindrical in shape.
2). Cells are unbranched.
3). Fibres have blunt end.
4). Cells are multinucleated.
5). Fibres possess striations.
6). Intercalated disc are absent.
7). Fibres occurs in bundles.
8). They are Voluntary in nature.
Unstriated Muscle :-
1). Cells are elongated and spindle shaped.
2). Cells are unbranched.
3). Fibres have pointed ends.
4). Cells are uni- nucleated.
5). Striations are absent.
6). Intercalated disc are absent.
7). Fibres are found in the form of sheets.
8). They are involuntary in nature.
Cardiac Muscle :-
1). Cells are small and Cylindrical.
2). Cells are branched.
3). Fibres have broad ends.
4). Cells are uni- nucleated
5). Striations are present but they are fainter than those of striated Muscle fibres.
6). Intercalated disc are present.
7). Fibres forms a network.
8). They are involuntary in nature.
On the basis of Location :-
1). Striated Muscle are found in limbs, hands, feet, tongue, pharynx etc.
2). Unstriated muscle are found in Urinogential tracts, digestive tract, lungs, iris, blood vessels etc.
3). Cardiac Muscle are found only in the Wall of the Heart.
On the basis of Functions :-
1). Striated Muscle are able to perform fast and powerful contractions. Hence, get fatigue soon.
2). Unstriated Muscle perform slow but prolonged contractions.
3). Cardiac Muscle perform powerful and rhythmic contractions and get fatigue seldom.
