As verbs the difference between stock and reserve is that stock is to have on hand for sale while reserve is to keep back; to retain. As an adjective stock is of a type normally available for purchase/in stock.

Stock are those resources wich haven't been used yet owing to lack of technical know how.

Reserves are those resources whose technical know how is known for utilisation but haven't been used yet!
