Answer:

LENTICELS: Lenticels are the aerating pores formed in the stem and root during secondary growth. In stem each lenticel is formed in below a former stomate ( present in young stem ). When stem shows secondary growth, in order to cope up with growth in the vascular region ( which adds secondary xylem and secondary phloem ) the outer regions also show secondary growth. There is formation of a protective periderm. In the outer regions of stem, phellogen I. e cork cambium appears and it forms phelloderm or secondary cortex on the inner side and phellem or cork on the outer side. Cork is multilayered. It’s cells are protective as it’s cells aresuberised. In place of a stomate the phellogen forms a lenticel.

STOMATA: Stomata are the small pores present in the leaves and stems in their epidermal layers. They are meant for gaseous exchanges for respiration and photosynthesis. They also allow water transpiration Each stomate is sorrounded by a pair of guard cells enclosing a small pore. The stomata lead to substomatal cavities which are in connection with internal tissues.
