the basic difference between readind and studying is that while reading we just read to get to know what the matter is about, but in studying we have to understand,read and write the thing we want/have to

Reading is a broad term which doesn't require one’s attention all the time..for example many times we read without even actively participating into it.Reading might be without any intention to learn anything. .and lastly reading is a basic skill of a literate person.
Studying is goal specific term which is usually used for academic purpose where person needs to take active participation…reading is indeed a part of study but there are other components of study for example listening lectures, observation, critical thinking etc.
