Difference between sublimation and evaporation :-
Sublimation :- It's a process of conversion of a substance directly from the solid to the gas state without passing through the liquid state.
Example :- Dry ice or solid carbon dioxide sublimes.
- Sublimation caused by the absorption of heat which provides enough energy of some molecules to basically overcome the attractive forces of their neighbors and escape into the vapour phase.
- Sublimation is a chemical process.
- When ice cubes shrink in the freezer thats also a example of sublimation.
Evaporation :- It's a process of a substance in a liquid state changing to a gaseous state due to the increase in temperature or we can say pressure.
Example :- Water turning into steam.
- Evaporation is the primary pathway that water moves from the liquid state back into the water cycle as atmosphere water vapour.
- Evaporation is mostly used for instance, extraction of salt from ocean water.
