summer monsoon is what we see generally refer to as rainy season . heating of the indian subcontinent during summer causes a large scale low pressure area form over northen india this derives winds from the southwest towards the landmass while these winds pass over the arabian sea they collects some moisture and it rains when they arrives over land the southwest monsoon begins generally in june and ends in mid september
where the summer monsoo ends winter monsoon begins the wind now coming from the northeast cause minimal rainfall over rest of the country but the eastern coast of india receives considerable amount of rainfall this because the wind pass over the bay of bengal picking up moisture in the process
