Suspending a thread in java puts thread to sleep indefinitely and it can also be resumed, while on the other hand stop threading terminates the thread and it can not be resumed.
Suspending sometimes is useful, for example a separate thread can be used to display the time of the day, if the user does not desire the use of a clock then it's thread can be suspended.
Once suspended it is also a simple matter to restart the thread.
