Taproot is the main root that goes down to the soil.It has a long and tappering primary root (main root) and secondary roots ( lateral/branch roots) that grows deep into the soil. While in fibrous roots,a cluster of fine roots grow from the base of the stem. They have thin and spread out in all directions but do not grow very into the soil.

Hope it helps!!
