Tasar silkworms are mainly grown in India and China and used to produce the Tasar silk used in furnishing and interiors. It is a dull brown, copper coloured, coarse silk.

 

Muga silkworms are widely found in North-Eastern India, mainly Assam. The Muga silkworms produce a golden-yellow silk which is used in weaving sarees.
