Terrestrial plants open ther stromata in day and take up CO2 during day and carry out photosynthesis with help of sunlight water and CO2 .
In desert plants to prevent loss of water by transpiration stromata is opened during night and CO2 is taken in which is converted to intermidiatory form malic acid which is broken down during day time into CO2 to do photosynthesis
