(a) Humans and herbivores, such as the (b) rabbit, have a monogastric digestive system. However, in the rabbit the small intestine and cecum are enlarged to allow more time to digest plant material. The enlarged organ provides more surface area for absorption of nutrients.

The differences between rabbits and human digestive system are -

Digestive System of Rabbit

1. Rabbits has cleft which is situated in the middle part of their upper lip.

2. They lack have Canine teeth.

3. They possess Diastema.

4. Their caecum and vermiform appendix are well developed.

5. They eject the faeces outside in the form of pellets.

Digestive System of Humans

1. Humans do not have cleft.

2. Canine teeth is present in humans.

3. Diastema is absent.

4. Caecum and vermiform appendix are vestigial in humans.

5. Faeces are ejected as semi solid stool.
