Distance is the path traveled by an object from one point to another whereas displacement is the shortest distance traveled by an object.

Difference between distance and displacement :
Distance is a scalar quantity whereas displacement is a vector quantity.
Distance has only magnitude but displacement has both direction and magnitude.
Distance cannot be negative whereas displacement can be positive, zero or negative.
Distance is speed upon time whereas displacement is velocity upon time.
