Difference between effective collision and ineffective collision
Explanation:
In order for a reaction to take place, the reacting molecules must collide with each other.
Once molecules collide they may react together or they may not, depending on two factors -
1. whether the collision had enough energy to break the bonds holding reactant molecules together.
2. whether the reacting molecules collide in the proper orientation for new bonds to form.
Effective Collisions are the collisions in which these two conditions are satisfied so a reaction occurs. The higher the frequency of effective collisions the faster the reaction rate. Effective collision brings a change in the chemical reaction, the concentration of the product.
Ineffective Collisions are the collisions in which these two conditions are not satisfied so a reaction doesn't take place. It doesn't depend on the reaction rate. these don't bring any change in the product concentration or change in the chemical reaction.
