A zygote is formed from the synthesis resulting out of the union of the two distinctive gametes. On the other hand the embryo is the mutlicellular diploid eukaryote in one of the early stages ofdevelopment. The eukaryote is termed as the embryo, in humans, 8 weeks past the fertilization.

Single cell embryo is called as zygote.
When sperm and egg meet, they form zygote. It is implanted in womb(uterus) of mother, it divides into multicellular embryo.
In Embryological studies if you find a single cell, its Zygote. Any thing multicellular is embryo and any embryo aged more than eight weeks after conception is Fetus.
