Local anaesthesia as the name indicates is anesthetising a small part. patient is conscious and knows what is going on. only does not feel pain for example ear lobe repair cataract.

General anaesthesia as the name indicates when patient is not aware of surrounding and is under effect of anaesthesia his breathing is to be artificially managed.
